ADMINISTRATIVE EXCHANGE BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA AND THE STATE OF NORTH RHINE-WESTPHALIA GERMANY–JUNE & NOV 2025

The Republic of Ghana and Germany have maintained enduring socioeconomic bilateral relations. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia has actively engaged with Ghana in various sectors, including health, education, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, science and technology, and establishing alliances with several Ghanaian institutions.

 This initiative aims to familiarize public servants from both countries with the daily professional activities of their counterparts, and to identify potential areas for future collaboration and implementation.

The State of NRW has designated the World University Service (WUS) Germany, as the implementing partner and Saeed S. Billa of Stodi Konsult Ghana as the resident consultant and partner in Ghana.

For the June/November 2025 edition, up to ten participants are invited from the ministries and departments above to express interest for a fully funded return trip to Germany in June and to help host their German counterparts in Accra in Nov. 2025.

Eligibility requirements:

To qualify to apply for the programme, a candidate must be a public or civil servant of Ghana and;

  1. Be ready to devote two weeks of sojourn in Dusseldorf from 22nd June, 2025
  2. Your office must also be ready to release you for another two weeks in Accra to host your tandem partner when he or she is in Ghana from 1st to 11th November, 2025.
  3. Your office should be prepared to support you with vehicle and fuel for your rounds in Accra with your tandem partner during his or her two week stay, as the project does not fund individual tandem activities.  
  4. Passionate about professional intercultural exchange and would like to get to know the administrative structure in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany)
  5. Must be ready to show your tandem partner your professional activities and to create an interesting internship plan from June 2025 in the context of your work
  6. Be prepared to maintain a long-term collaborative partnership with your tandem in accordance with the development cooperation framework of both countries and,
  7. Be ready and prepared to submit a minimum of two written reports and regularly update us on any initiative resulting herein.

BENEFITS:

If you are accepted into the Programme, all expense to and from Dusseldorf, Germany will be covered. Daily allowance for lunch will be provided. Please note that we do not pay any allowance to participants.

  1. Letter of Nomination from the head of your Institution
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  3. Short letter of motivation (max.: 250 words)
  4. Expose on area of collaboration with your exchange partner and how you want to organize same.
  5. Written pledge from your organization regarding items I to III aforementioned.
